Autocratic Republic of Colarus
The Autocratic Republic of Colarus, more commonly known as Colarus (pronounced kow-luh-roos) is a micronation in Gallup, NM. Colarus was founded by Mothem on January 9th 2026 and declared independence that same day.
Colarus is an autocratic republic, leaving the leader in charge of most duties. The Founding Charters are the supreme law and act as a constitution until new legislation is enacted. There are 2 secretaries and 2 ministries; the Head of State and Vice President are secretarial, and Foreign Relations and Finance are ministries.
Colarus is a new and emerging micronation and plans to form diplomatic relations with other nations.
Etymology
Colarus (pronounced kow-luh-roos) means "Land of the hills" in Latin. 'Col' from collis meaning hill, 'a' acting as a linking vowel, and 'rus' meaning country. This represents the geography of Colarus.
History
Early Days
Colarus's history dates back to mid-June 2024, under the name of Coland. Its territories were near present-day Colarus, covering 3,061 square meters (32,958 ft²), and its government was undefined, more of a social collective than a political entity.
On July 12th 2024, Coland relocated its territories, establishing a new capital called Pineville. In late July, Coland changed its name to Andon and adopted a new flag.
In mid-October 2024, Andon expanded its territories. By December 2024, Andon became inactive.
On June 1st 2025, The Colonial Empire was founded by Mothem. Shortly after, Kaunon submitted a flag and name, changing the Colonial Empire to the Federal Republic of RedCliff. It covered 0.62 km² (0.24 mi²) and included 5 semi-autonomous republics.
On June 26th, the Prime Minister announced elections to be held from July 7th to July 12th. All candidates won and occupied their ministries.
On July 29th, Mothem released a poll for the dissolution of RedCliff; 89% voted against it. To celebrate, Mothem released the RedCliff Dollar.
An organization called the United States of New Mexico was planned, but 10 days later, on August 30th, Mothem announced the second dissolution of RedCliff, effective September 20th, 2025. RedCliff’s government and borders were no longer active.
Politics and Government
Colarus operates as an Autocratic Republic, meaning all decisions, laws, and regulations are managed by the President.
Head of State
The Head of State has absolute authority, manages nearly all tasks, and works alongside a Vice President. Serves for life unless resigned.
Vice President
The Vice President is deputy to the Head of State and helps manage tasks. Acts in the absence of the President.
Ministries
Ministry of Finance
Responsible for currency and financial decisions. Run by the executive powers.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Responsible for engaging diplomatically with other micronations. Run by the executive powers.
Political Parties
There is one party in the country, The Autocratic Party, which is the ruling party of Colarus. Its chairman is Mothem. Citizens can join through registration and be assigned as representatives or government workers.
